In a recent conversation with a client, they checked with the helpdesk to see if I was really with RTS and not a bad actor in a hoodie in a dark basement. I realized I should reintroduce myself and give a brief update of my status.
Hi! I’m Penny Roberts. I have been in the technology business for over 45 years with the first few decades as a programmer (what would now be called application/software development). Together with Dan we started RTS in 1999. In 2023, I announced my retirement but as the date approached there were complications and I stayed. I went to a more background role and handed off some of my workload. In December 2025 I made the decision to return to a more active role. I could spin it that I missed clients too much (I did) but that was not the only reason for the decision.
Going forward I will continue to work on our marketing and client facing materials. Expect to hear from me occasionally and reach out to me if you ever have any concerns. Since I am a nerd at heart I will spend some of my time learning and/or implementing new technologies, such as AI.
This has nothing to do with the performance of team members at RTS. They are all doing great. I simply wish to help in ways I enjoy and have ability. So instead of “a bad Penny” think of me as “a perennial Penny.”
